Those in attendance at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie paused to honor the life of Kim Choma on October 11 as the Wyoming Cowboys faced the San Jose State Spartans. Kim was placed on the video board and a moment was taken by the thousands in attendance to remember the UW equipment manager who’s life was tragically taken in late June of this year.

Coach Jay Sawvel responded at that time with a statement:  “Kim Choma was loved by everyone associated with Cowboy football. Her attitude, kindness, work ethic, and most of all, her smile will be so dearly missed, and never forgotten. Our prayers go out to all members of the Choma family.”

Simply referred to as Choma by the Star Valley High School Football family, Kim has had a memorial scholarship established in her name by the program and community. Coach McKay Young made the following statement this summer: “As a Star Valley Football Family we are heartbroken to lose Kim. Our hearts and prayers are with her family. Choma represents the very best of us and what we aspire to be like. She was uniquely kind and selfless. She was an example of being built for others. She left a legacy that will forever be remembered and honored in our program.”

Kim’s family was in attendance at the game where they were honored with applause. Kim served both the SVHS and UW Football programs and overcame injuries from a serious car accident in August of 2024.
