
The LCSD #2 Board of Trustees met in their regular meeting on November 12, 2025. While the school calendar direction was the primary item on the list, there were many things that were touched on with the following report.

JC Inskeep presented the financial report for the district with the note that next month’s report will have information from the state auditor. Inskeep pointed out that the Consensus Revenue Estimating Report or CREG had an interesting development in that the interest income for the state on their investment is now over $1 billion.
Jason Horsley presented the district report card which includes enrollment, graduation rates and data involving full time and part time staff experience. This included year to year comparisons and results that were separated into each school. He stated that all of the information can be found on the district website.
Horsley pointed out that LCSD #2 is a district that meets or exceeds the requirement for the state of Wyoming. The current graduation rate for the district is 85.7% which is above the 81.6% for the state. Star Valley High School is at 90.1% and Cokeville High School is at 100%.
Discussion was held about the school calendar direction for the district which was given later in the meeting to the administration. It was reiterated that the state requirements for hours for schools are at least 900 for elementary schools, 950 for junior highs or middle schools and 1000 for high schools with at least 160 days of instruction.
On the monthly enrollment report from Superintendent Matt Erickson, he stated that the district is down 50 students from November of 2024 which is a significant number. He reminded those in attendance that LCSD #2 receives funding based on ADM or Average Daily Membership numbers and that based on that, 50 students is the equivalent of anywhere from $850,000 to $1 million in funding.
Chairman Devin Simpson reported that a donation was made to the SVHS girls golf program from the Star Valley Ranch Ladies Golf Association in the amount of $500. He thanked them for their donation.
Both Mia and Madalyn Dayton of Cokeville Volleyball were recognized for a sportsmanship award from the WHSAA.
On the advice of legal council, the district will likely examine more detailed expectations for employees as it pertains to responsibilities on busses.
Following a state mandate, the district will also examine the the stocking of epinephrine in facilities in the event of an allergy reaction.
In the facilities update, Warren Hicks reported that routine cleaning along with extra cleaning are planned for the upcoming holiday breaks. This effort will include the use of foggers in an effort to stay ahead of the annual rounds of sickness.
Hicks noted that the transportation building renovation is still ongoing from the MCER report with 95% of the blueprints expected to be complete by January with the anticipated bid dates coming the last week of February. He is hopeful the work can start near the end of the school year.
Two more donations were noted with $7,750 donated from Rocky Mountain Yeti for girls wrestling and $1,200 from an anonymous donor for any negative lunch balances at Thayne Elementary.
