Mayor Jeff Jensen convened the Afton Town Council meeting at 5:30 p.m. on November 13, 2025. All council members were present, including Scott Griffith, Will Wilkes, Michael Butler, Dirk Hillyard, along with Town Attorney Dale Cottam, Town Clerk Tina McGarvey, and Town Administrator Violet Sanderson.

The agenda included several updates regarding town departments and community services. The council approved a bill from B&H Auto for tires for a fire truck. In golf course updates, Bryce Burton reported that the course closed at the end of October, with all golf carts being serviced and stored until they reopen in April 2026. The Golf Course Board is searching for a new pro shop manager following Julie Hardy’s departure. Discussions were held regarding potential price increases for the upcoming season: season pass prices will rise by $50, resulting in $400 for residents and $450 for non-residents, while daily pricing remains under consideration. However, youth pass prices will stay the same. This has not been decided upon yet, and prices will remain the same until it is finalized.

According to the Police Department, 4,004 service calls were recorded between January 1 and November 13, compared to 3,055 during the same period last year. The department is set to welcome a new male officer on January 5, and discussed the need to upgrade its citation system to improve efficiency. Costs outlined for the upgrade totaled over $30,000, which includes an E-Force citation module, court software, and necessary equipment. Judge Garren Stauffer was present and emphasized the importance of this upgrade for efficient record-keeping.

The Afton Fire Department reported that four new firefighters have completed their firefighter one class and have been fitted for gear. They received a house for training purposes and noted two recent retirements, maintaining a staff of 30 while being able to expand to 34.

The next town council meeting is scheduled for December 11, 2025, at 5:30 p.m.
