Visser nabs All-American status for Weber State

Peter Visser rewrote a lot of records for Star Valley High School cross-country and track and field. He’s continuing to do the same at Weber State University where he earned All-American status over the weekend at the NCAA National Championships in Columbia, Missouri.

Visser placed 35th at the race to earn the honors, running a Weber State record pace of 29:02.3 in the 10K race. Visser also earned the trip to the NCAA Nationals for the third time, another WSU record.

“He had put himself in a position to get All-American, and then he put his whole heart into that final section of the race,” Weber State Cross-Country Coach Corbin Talley said via a school report. “Pete is such a gutsy, determined runner. He has shown that all season long, and in particular when it really mattered today.”

Visser showed remarkable progress in this three races on the national stage. He finished 150th as a sophomore, 126th last year as a junior and then 35th this season as a senior. The top 40 runners earn All-America.

More Awards

Visser also earned the Elite Scholar Athlete Award which is given out to the student-athlete with the highest GPA at each NCAA Championship. He has a 4.0 GPA while working on Film Studies and English.
