In a surprising turn of events, the anticipated Thayne Subdivision project has officially been canceled. The 113-acre, 184-lot Hemmert Ranch Subdivision had initially shown promise, moving forward after three years of thorough preparation and review. Mayor Simpson had previously emphasized the project’s significance, noting it could quadruple the size of Thayne and greatly benefit the community.
“This is a huge undertaking for the Town of Thayne,” Simpson stated just a few months ago during an interview with SVI. “We had a lot of changes and a lot of recommendations. The developer bent over backwards to work with what we desired as a town,” he added, reflecting on the extensive work completed in the last year.
No comments from the developer have been received regarding this change.
This cancellation marks a significant shift for Thayne, particularly after the proposed subdivision was expected to have a positive impact on local infrastructure and growth.
Previously, Mayor Simpson had remarked on the importance of such developments, stating, “They will pay impact fees when they start building houses, so that will help offset future growth so we can have our system where it needs to be.”
As the community processes this unexpected news, the hope remains that new opportunities for growth and development will arise in the future. Further updates will be provided if and when they become available.
