Education Foundation begins 2026 scholarship drive

The Lincoln County School District #2 Education Foundation has begun their 2026 Scholarship Drive. Businesses and community donors are invited to support the LCSD #2 Class of 2026 through donations to the scholarship drive for the next few months.

In an interview on the SVI Radio Network, Tim Hale, who serves as Chairman of the Board with the Education Foundation, explained the program and the process that interested parties can follow to support graduating seniors with funds for post high school studies.

“We raised close to $150,000 last year for these scholarships,” Hale said, noting that the Foundation has consistently facilitated more than $100,000 in annual scholarship funding over the past several years. “It has really become quite a legacy and a wonderful way for the community to support graduating seniors from the school district. We are really excited to continue with this program and for all the fruits that we see from giving a leg up to these graduating kids.”

Seniors from the three high schools district wide have received scholarship funding through the drive with Cokeville High School graduates and Swift Creek High School graduates receiving unexpectedly high numbers despite fewer enrollment numbers. Star Valley High School graduates consistently garner high numbers of scholarship awards with so many students planning to attend a higher education institution.

“We are absolutely focused [on graduates] district wide,” said Hale. We have great Cokeville representation and we love our Swift Creek High kids. Any graduating senior across the district, [including homeschool students] can apply for these scholarships.”

Businesses and individuals in these communities are invited to reach out to Kim Dockstader, who serves as Director of the Foundation and administrator of the scholarship drive. Donors are welcome to tailor the recipient qualifications on the funds they donate. If they want to support a student who has specific experience, skills, interests or plans, they are welcome to specify those with the donation.

“We can accept general scholarships from business owners or family trusts,” said Hale. “Anyone in the community who is interested in helping and supporting us by supporting these students, we are open to that. It doesn’t matter who you are or how big your donation is. If it’s $5 or $1000, you can use those funds as a charitable donation that is potentially tax-deductible.”

“We love this program,” said Hale. “It’s a thrill to see these students on stage in May as this program is wrapped up. It’s incredible how much opportunity is provided to these students. If you go to the awards assembly, there are scholarships coming from the four corners of the earth, between businesses and different universities. It’s such an impressive group of kids between Cokeville, Swift Creek and Star Valley High.”
