Unlike most town council meetings, the January 13 Cokeville Town Council meeting was full of emotions as K9 Officer Dauntless took his last call. He was given his last call by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office where they recognized him for his seven years of service and for being a great asset to the town and county. They commended him for taking hundreds of pounds of controlled substances off the roads and wished him a happy retirement relaxing and destroying soccer balls.

One notable bust was April 2, 2025, when one of the Cokeville officers made a traffic stop on a semi-truck for speeding.  Over 110 pounds of marijuana was found inside the semi and two individuals were arrested.

Officer Dauntless retired due to health issues, according to Chief Eric Whitehead, who was also Dauntless’ handler for four years. He commented to the council that Dauntless doesn’t really know that he does have health issues. Dauntless is just over nine years old and has spent all his working days as a Cokeville officer.

A new K9 officer, Harley has been purchased by the Town of Cokeville and has been on the force for a few months.
