Alpine Craft Fairs is hosting a two-day Love and Local Makers Market on Friday, February 13 and Saturday, February 14 at the Alpine Civic Center. Friday offers a Galentine’s Ladies Night from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday features crafts, music, food and fun for the entire family from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
All proceeds from this fair go toward The Wall That Heals, which is a replica of the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial that is coming to Star Valley in July of this year. “It’s kind of near and dear to my heart,” said organizer Christa Tidwell. “My Dad served in Vietnam, so when I found out about it, and because I am a nonprofit and donate what I make back to the community, I knew this was a perfect opportunity to do that.”

Galentine’s Ladies Night offers music and line dancing as well as beverages, including adult beverages, and a few vendors with their products. Saturday will bring an expanded selection of vendors with music and food all day.
Representatives from the Wall that Heals will be there Saturday, taking donations at the door and educating the public about The Wall’s purpose and schedule. Donations are entirely voluntary and everyone is welcome.
Additional fundraising efforts at the event include Kim and Erin Cazier, a mother and daughter team, who are raising funds to cover travel expenses for Erin’s opportunity to compete in a bowling tournament. The Clover Buds 4-H Club is also raising funds and educating the public. The VFW Auxiliary will be fundraising there as well. Tidwell donates the booth and space to all youth and organizations that are working to raise funds for their group or project.
“I’m doing several events leading up to when [The Wall] will be here,” said Tidwell. “A portion of all the proceeds from any of my events from now until the 4th of July will go to funding The Wall. There will be several opportunities for me to donate, including this Valentine’s fair and Mother’s Day. I’m also working on an additional project for the summer.”
“We have a fun variety of different vendors coming in” with honey, coffee, meat, candles, jewelry, home décor, wood crafts, treats, custom calendars, designer lighting, emergency kits, Tumblr and many other options.
“If nothing else, just come and learn about The Wall that Heals,” Tidwell encouraged guests. “The local community really appreciates our support. I do this so that local small businesses have a place to sell their stuff and I get to donate the money back to the community, so it all stays here.”
