Last Saturday night, the Alpine Charter School hosted a gala at the Alpine Civic Center to celebrate the upcoming launch of the Wyoming Classical Academy. Dr. Alex Oliver, the newly appointed headmaster, shared his vision and enthusiasm for this exciting opportunity.
“I’m very excited to take on this role,” Dr. Oliver said. “This school has the potential to showcase the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our students, proving that education doesn’t have to be a cookie-cutter model. We aim to create multiple pathways for every child to succeed, whether they are transitioning to high school, pursuing college, or entering the workforce.”
Dr. Oliver highlighted the importance of recognizing and valuing each student. “Children thrive when they feel seen, valued, and heard. These three elements are crucial for success. When students know their educators genuinely support them, they respond with enthusiasm and effort.”
The gala provided a warm welcome for Dr. Oliver, who expressed deep gratitude for the community’s overwhelming support. “I was absolutely blown away tonight. The atmosphere is beautiful, and I can’t express enough how thankful I am for the tremendous backing we’ve received to ensure that this school has everything it needs to succeed,” he remarked.
Community investment was further demonstrated by the completion of the modular classrooms, which will soon be available for tours. Meredith Leonard from the Alpine Education Foundation described the classrooms as “beautiful, full of natural light, and embodying a warm school environment.” Additionally, the playground design, generously donated by Karen Landscape Architects, was unveiled at the gala, with proceeds directed toward creating an enriching outdoor space for students.
As the school prepares for a fall opening, enrollment remains a priority. “We encourage parents to explore what we have to offer,” Leonard stated. “The curriculum, developed by Hillsdale College professors, is robust and covers great literature, history, and civics, providing a comprehensive educational experience for our students.”
Looking ahead to the school’s inaugural year, Dr. Oliver expressed his eagerness to start this new chapter: “I look forward to building a school culture that values every child and promotes creativity and learning. As my presence becomes more established, I hope to foster relationships and invite community members to be part of this journey.”
