SVI Radio Interview: Mayor Eric Green – Town of Alpine
Town of Alpine Mayor Eric Green called into the Weekday Wake-Up on Wednesday, March 4 with his monthly report from the Town of Alpine. Mayor Green provided an update the Alpine Meadows Sewer and touched on items discussed in the March 3 Town Council meeting.
(0:00) Into the first guest interview segment of the eight o’clock hour this morning in town of Alpine Mayor Eric Greene joining me on the air (0:06) With a monthly report from Alpine Mayor Greene. Good morning. How’s everything in Alpine today? (0:12) Well, it’s going great.
Thanks Duke. The sun’s out and I think it’s gonna be another glorious day (0:20) All the sun is gonna melt the little snow that we have left. (0:25) Yeah, yeah, not much to melt but here we go (0:27) Well appreciate your time as always mayor and I I think we we start with the Alpine Meadows (0:33) The town of Alpine sending out some information on this and with the the sewer system update (0:39) So maybe give us an update on where the town currently sits on on these repairs and updates here (0:45) Yeah, sure.
So we’ve hired a consultant (0:50) a subcontractor to (0:51) CCTV the entire (0:54) Alpine Meadows sewer (0:56) Infrastructure and they found (1:01) 15 were not aligned properly and there was really only one that was a problem for a current (1:10) Resident or a lot that had a house on it. So we’ve already fixed that in general. We’re (1:17) you know, I think we’ve diagnosed the problem and we’re trying to figure out if we can get funding from the state to fix the (1:24) problem or (1:26) If we just need to wait until people tie into the system in the future and and you say you diagnosed the problem (1:33) What would that be? What’s what’s the cause here? (1:35) so (1:36) it turns out that (1:39) There was faulty worksmanship back in the day when they installed it (1:43) They didn’t put proper bedding underneath the pipes and we think when they backfilled (1:48) The pipes moved and some of them got disconnected (1:53) So, like I said, there was only one case of a full disconnection and that’s already been fixed (1:59) so I think the problem is much smaller than (2:04) Anticipated which is a good thing for the town of Alpine and those residents over there (2:08) Sure (2:09) So so you’re you’re looking for some grant funding to with this (2:12) Completely replaced the whole system in that subdivision or would it just be more repair wise? (2:18) It would just be individual repairs (2:21) I can’t even imagine what that bill would cost to replace all that infrastructure in the entire subdivision (2:27) I mean tens of millions of dollars or something to replace all that so I don’t think that’s on the table Duke (2:34) but what we are going to look at is (2:37) Maybe a simpler fix (2:39) When people are tying into the system when they build a house in the future and have the whole open (2:44) We look at making those fixes then excellent (2:47) All right, so but as of right now, it sounds like the the system’s working much much better than is that correct? (2:54) Yeah, we’ve (2:57) There there still might be a few areas that we need to look at but yes (3:02) the the system is working great now and (3:06) And I don’t think anyone should be concerned moving forward town of Alpine mayor Eric Green this morning on the weekday (3:13) Wake Apple mayor.
Let’s recap. Maybe the most recent town council meeting and then anything discussed that you think is worth mentioning here on the air. I (3:21) thought we had a really good discussion last night with the folks from Star Valley Health regarding the (3:29) new district for EMS and (3:33) as you may or may not know I sat on the committee that was kind of (3:37) the working group that was coming up with solutions for (3:41) EMS and (3:43) I think the result of that committee was that a special district really needs to be (3:51) Started for EMS to guarantee that we have EMS services in the North Lincoln (4:00) District the the current district for the (4:04) Hospital district it would just be a similar way to that and that’s really the only way we can guarantee we have EMS (4:10) going forward and (4:14) Of course, that’s kind of in the process now at the county level (4:17) And and I guess we kind of see see where it goes public comment period is up and coming, right? (4:24) Exactly, I think the exact date is March 17th (4:29) Yeah, I think so.
I think that’s correct as well. Yeah, so (4:33) yeah, and then that would be opportunity for people to (4:39) You know, I (4:41) Think I think you can be in person or in Afton if you’d like to make a public comment on the 17th (4:46) and then after that you will have (4:49) opportunity to (4:50) Write in and make your comments heard for 60 days after that (4:56) Mayor Eric Green with the town of Alpine on the weekday wake up this morning up mayor anything else happening in Alpine? (5:01) You’d like to mention today while we have you (5:04) well, as always we have a lot going on but (5:07) Another long meeting last night, but just a lot of housekeeping things (5:13) but yeah, we (5:17) Hope that (5:18) Everyone understands that you know with the master plan (5:21) Wrapping up or whatever. There’s still a lot of chance for people to comment on the master plan in that process (5:27) So if you have any questions on that, please go to the website or call the town of Alpine more information (5:34) but all in all, you know, we’ve got a lot going on in Alpine, but I think it’s all good and and (5:39) you know (5:41) Look forward to summer coming up and a bunch of big events (5:45) So I think it’s it’s gonna be another great year for sure (5:49) Yeah, of course the 250th and Alpine has some big plans that you’re excited to announce (5:54) You know you mentioned the out the master plan I was I was gonna bring that up and I forgot so I’m glad you did (5:58) What what are the next steps? So now you had the open house last week on that (6:03) And where does that go from here now? (6:06) so the next is people still have a chance to said to make comment on the website for the master plan and (6:14) we anticipate getting the draft by (6:18) Memorial Day so to speak and then from there we have a comment period (6:24) And so we’ll be making any changes.
We we keep it and then after that (6:29) we will (6:31) Basically have to adopt it which will take three meetings to adopt it. So this is a process that should be (6:38) Completed wrapped up by the summer at some point. Excellent.
That’s town of Alpine mayor. Eric Green mayor anything else while we have you I (6:47) Think it’s all good. Thanks for having me on Duke.
