Known annually as having to overcome piles of snow this time of year, the Star Valley High School spring sports of track and soccer will have an unseasonably warm start to their 2026 campaign which began practices on Monday.

Girls Track

The Lady Braves open their 2026 schedule hoping to climb the standings from a 14th place overall finish in 2025. The girls finished in the top five in both 2024 and 2023. Abigail Carrillo-Zarate is back for her senior season after setting a new school record in the shot put as a junior. Gracey Visser and the distance crew will also be looking to anchor the team’s efforts. Star Valley is scheduled to host Jackson Hole in a dual meet on March 20. The Dave Draney Invitational is scheduled for April 23. In addition, Star Valley High School will host the 4A West Regionals on May 15-16.

Boys Track

The Braves are coming off a terrific 4A Runner-up finish last year at State where they scored 105.5 team points, the fourth-most in program history in Casper. The team will lean on the distance crew of runners which placed runner-up this past fall after a run of three straight state titles. Colton Cranney, Brigham Hahn, Sullivan Wilson and Luke Harris figure to lead that effort. The Braves will be part of a scheduled dual meet against Jackson on the home track on March 20 and then will host the Dave Draney Invitational on April 23. Star Valley High School will also host the 4A West Regionals on May 15-16.

Girls Soccer

The Lady Braves suffered through a winless season last year, going (0-15) overall. The girls will be looking to improve on an offense that ranked last in the 4A classification in 2025, scoring just three goals all season. Ridglynn Aullman led the team with two of those goals. Defensively, the team will also be hoping to keep some of the pressure off the goal keeper which was called upon more than any other program and led the class with 15.2 saves per game while allowing 7.8 goals per game on average. Cara Andrews was second in the 4A West with 137 saves. The Star Valley girls will be looking to try and get back to the State tournament for the first time since 2019. The 2020 season was canceled due to COVID-19. The Lady Braves open up their season on the road in Casper against Kelly Walsh and Natrona County on March 20-21. Their first home game is against rival Evanston on April 9. The 4A West Regional Soccer Tournament will take place in Jackson this season.

Boys Soccer

After making the State tournament 11 straight times from 2012 to 2023, the Braves will be looking to get back to the culminating event after missing out the past two seasons. Star Valley went 3-11-1 overall a year ago, finishing in front of both Evanston and Natrona in the standings of the 4A West. The Star Valley boys will also be hoping to improve their offensive production from a year ago as they finished with 16 goals overall. Grant Buchanan, Max Matijczyk and Kristoff Buehler led the team with three goals each. The team will also have to replace AJ Hale who departed via graduation after collecting 127 saves in goal. The team will also open up their 2026 schedule on the road in Casper against Kelly Walsh and Natrona County on March 20-21 with their first home game coming on April 9, against the Evanston Red Devils. The 4A West Regional Soccer Tournament will take place in Jackson this season.
