Salt River Community Theater has announced the organization’s 2026 Fall Musical as “Finding Neverland,” which is the story of author James Matthew Barrie’s inspiration for his creation of “Peter Pan.” Jaclyn Lechner, who serves as Executive Director of Salt River Arts, returns to directing in this fifth year of community musical productions at the Ford Theatre.
“I have loved this musical since I first listened to it and always said I would love to put this on if the rights were ever available,” said Lechner. As rights to the production were recently released, she settled on this selection for the 2026 offering. “As I listened to it, I could almost see the blocking and dances in my head, and I felt chills. I knew this was the musical we needed to put on this year.”
“Finding Neverland” requires approximately 15 cast members. Performers interested in participating in the production can expect an audition call toward the end of July. Notices will be posted on the Salt River Community Theater Facebook page and sent via email to community members who are in the Ford Theatre email list.
Traditionally, the community theater seeks only adult cast members who are no longer high school students, but this year will be slightly different. “This musical has four boy roles that are very significant to the story,” said Lechner. “Boys who are interested in singing, dancing and acting are invited to come and audition. It is a big commitment, and each boy cast member must be completely committed.” They also need documented permission and support from their parents.
“We are incredibly grateful for all the support we’ve received throughout the Valley,” said Lechner. “From actors and directors, who give so much time and effort, to businesses who have sponsored our performances. Without all of this support, we would not be able to offer such great productions.”
Rehearsals for the musical will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 7-9 p.m. at the Ford Theatre, beginning the last week of August and running through performance dates, which are scheduled for November 12-14, 16, 19-21 and 23 at 7:00 p.m. each evening.
“I am very excited for another musical to be brought to life here in Star Valley,” said Lechner. “As I am still fairly new to directing, I know there are so many amazing people that will help this production happen! I love the variety of talent here in Star Valley and I am grateful and passionate to continue to be a part of the arts here.”
