Star Valley Ranch accepts public comment on Mountain Estates Subdivision

Questions and comments at an April 30 Town of Star Valley Ranch public hearing on the proposed Mountain Estates Subdivision centered on water supply, septic impact and general demands associated with traffic and infrastructure.
The hearing is part of a process that will move the proposal to a three reading municipal process, should it continue to move forward.
The entire process of the Mountain Estates Subdivision annexation continues to be updated on the Town of Star Valley Ranch website, StarValleyRanchWy.org, and find Mountain Estates Annexation under the Community tab.

As of the April meeting the proposal continued with the following motion, “The Town of Star Valley Ranch Town Council accept all Public Comments, the Planning Commission Determination & Findings Recommendation, Water Utility Board Recommendation, and all conditions contained therein, for the Mountain Estates.”
The motion received unanimous approval in a 5-0 vote. However, two members of the council, Kirsten Merrill and Katie Toolson indicated they would not be supporting the proposal as it moves forward beyond the first hearing.
A crowd of approximately 100 filled the seats and stood around the exterior of the room for the hearing in the town council chambers. All but three in attendance expressed opposition to the project approved earlier at the county level for a 76-acre location on the northwest side of the existing town boundaries, accessed from two locations on Muddy String Rd.
The proposal includes 65 single residence lots and 52 town homes constructed in seven phases.
The Lincoln County Commission has approved the first phase, prior to consideration of annexation into the Town of Star Valley Ranch.
In addition to concerns for additional septic systems and demands on the town water, residents attending the hearing drew attention to increased traffic, noise and dust along with wear and tear on the town’s roads.
Lincoln County has given initial approval to the projects, pending further agreement between the developer and the Town of Star Valley Ranch.
