(0:00) Another guest interview segment, (0:02) joining me live over the phone this morning (0:03) is Jake Lozier with the Oyster Ridge Music Festival, (0:07) and of course, getting ready for the 32nd annual (0:10) Oyster Ridge Music Festival, (0:12) free in downtown Kemmerer at Triangle Park, (0:15) nine days and 21 hours away is where we’re at, Jake. (0:20) Good morning, how are you today? (0:22) Hi, dude, good morning, I’m great. (0:24) We appreciate your time and thank you for telling us (0:26) all about Oyster Ridge Music Festival.
(0:28) Of course, up and coming and right around the corner, (0:31) it’s Wyoming’s largest free music festival, (0:34) July 24th and 25th, 32 years, (0:37) maybe speak to that right out of the gate (0:38) and what has made this festival so successful (0:41) to keep it running for now in 32 years? (0:45) One thing that makes this festival successful (0:47) is the amount of sponsorships and donations (0:50) that we get from our local industries and partners. (0:54) Without that support, this festival wouldn’t be possible. (0:57) And especially to keep it free, (1:00) that’s one of the things is it’s a free festival.
(1:02) People can come to our town and visit, get some camping, (1:06) get a free ride back and forth from the park. (1:08) And we’ve got 12 bands this year. (1:11) And so for no out-of-pocket cost, (1:14) you can come see two full days of music.
(1:17) It really is incredible that it’s free. (1:18) I love the environment downtown at the Triangle (1:22) and kind of that vibe that is there. (1:25) It’s really unique aside from it being free (1:28) and the community support.
(1:30) I mean, the downtown Triangle area (1:31) and the history that’s there (1:32) to have all those free concerts is pretty incredible. (1:36) Yeah, it does create this fun environment. (1:40) We get to fill it up.
(1:41) It becomes really busy. (1:43) It’s really neat to be down (1:45) in that historic Triangle and Kemmer. (1:47) Absolutely.
(1:48) So let’s talk about the lineup. (1:50) You mentioned all those bands (1:51) and the groups that are coming. (1:53) Maybe give us a heads up on a few of the groups (1:56) that we’ll be listening to during the festival.
(2:01) Absolutely. (2:06) So starting Friday at one o’clock, (2:08) the Kessinger Brothers are gonna be back. (2:10) They’ve been opening us up for a number of years here (2:14) and they’ll get us started.
(2:16) And we’ve been having Liam and Lane (2:20) for the last few years. (2:22) They’re young artists that are growing, (2:25) getting a bigger following. (2:26) We’ve kind of got to watch them develop (2:28) and their style and their songwriting (2:30) that they bring to our festival.
(2:32) And Friday night, our closers are Sicker Hollow (2:35) from Nashville, and they’re gonna bring some high energy. (2:39) It’s gonna be a great show. (2:41) And then Saturday, music starts at 11 o’clock (2:45) and Jalon Crossland is gonna come back.
(2:47) He’s from Wyoming. (2:48) He’s a great guitarist (2:50) and got some really good lyrics and songs. (2:53) And the Bones of J.R. Jones is gonna close us out Saturday.
(2:56) They’re from the East Coast (2:58) and they’re gonna really change up the tune that we got. (3:01) So it’s gonna be interesting to see their show. (3:03) Really looking forward to it.
(3:04) Love it. (3:05) Great variety. (3:05) That’s one of the things that another thing (3:07) that makes the Oyster Ridge Music Festival so unique (3:10) is the music variety, right? (3:13) You go through all those different groups and artists (3:14) and you’re gonna get a little bit of something (3:17) from everything, it sounds like.
(3:21) Yeah, it’s kind of has a reputation (3:24) of a bluegrass festival. (3:26) We’ve got a lot of Americana type bands. (3:29) If you have the opportunity to come visit, (3:32) there’s gonna be, like you said, a bunch of variety, (3:34) something for everybody.
(3:36) Wyoming’s largest free music festival, (3:38) Downtown Kemmerer, July 24th through the 25th. (3:41) Visit oystergrass.com for all the details and information. (3:46) Again, no tickets, just show up, oystergrass.com. (3:49) And of course, it’s not a festival without vendors, right? (3:52) Jake, you’re gonna have some great vendors there? (3:55) Yep, what we try to do is around the Triangle Park, (3:59) we’re gonna have all three sides (4:00) that are gonna be filled up with vendors.
(4:02) We’re trying to incorporate those downtown (4:04) brick and mortar stores as well. (4:06) We’re gonna have five to seven food vendors (4:09) and all of Pine Avenue, that main street, (4:12) is gonna be merchandise vendors. (4:17) So you’ll be able to come around, get something to eat, (4:20) shop, find something unique.
(4:22) It’s gonna be great. (4:23) July 24th through the 25th, (4:25) Oyster Ridge Music Festival, (4:27) Triangle Park in Kemmerer, all 100% free. (4:30) Jake Lozier, one of the committee members (4:32) that helps make this thing work.
(4:35) Jake, anything we missed about Oyster Ridge (4:36) you’d like to mention today? (4:40) I don’t think so. (4:41) Thank you to the community, (4:42) or definitely thank you to the community and our sponsors. (4:47) The committee members that have been working hard (4:49) year round, we put in some effort (4:52) to try to find these unique bands, (4:53) make sure that we’re gonna put on a show for the public.
(4:57) Absolutely. (4:59) Yep, as again, Oystergrass.com. (5:02) Follow them on social media as well (5:04) for updates and details, Oystergrass.com. (5:06) Jake Lozier this morning. (5:07) Oyster Ridge Music Festival, (5:09) July 24th and 25th at Triangle Park in Kemmerer.
