• Parade set for 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7
The Lincoln County Fair Parade will have a new date and route this year as organizers look to boost turnout and make the event more countywide.
Tomi Erickson of the Lincoln County Fair Board said the parade has been moved from its traditional Saturday slot to Friday, August 7 at 4:00 p.m., just before the evening rodeo.
“We’ve kind of seen some decline in our parade,” Erickson said. “So we wanted to see if maybe switching the weekends would help drive some traction and get people out a little bit more.”
Erickson said the change should also help bring in more residents from the southern part of the county.
“The fair parade is actually a county-wide event,” she said. “We wanted to be more inclusive of the whole entire county.”
The parade route has also changed. Entries will head south on Lincoln, then loop near the former Robinson Motors and Salt River Meats area before returning north on Washington and Main streets toward the fairgrounds.
Registration is free, and while same-day signups will still be allowed, organizers are encouraging preregistration through an online form. This year, spectators will also be able to vote for their favorite float by scanning QR codes during the parade.
The parade begins at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7.
