Bare Fire surpasses 800 acres

The Bare Fire, burning the timber of Sublette County inside the Big Piney Ranger District and is now estimated at 810 acres in size after igniting on Tuesday August 4. 

Firefighters on scene include a type 1 helicopter, two type 3 helicopters, a water tender, one type 3 engine, three type 6 engines, smokejumpers, a suppression module as well a other support staff. 

The public is being asked to avoid Bare Creek Road and South Cottonwood Road so crews can work safely and efficiently. A forest closure order of the area is forthcoming. According to officials on scene, there is no immediate threat to any structures at this time. The cause of the fire is unknown. 

Hot and dry conditions will challenge crews in the area where a red flag warning was in effect on Wednesday which meant high temperatures, strong wins and lower humidity. 

There are currently fire restrictions in the Bridger-Teton with a fire danger of High.
