Hope Bell, a member of the Rotary Club of Star Valley, stepped into the SVI Radio studio to promote the club’s Fall Festival. The event, formally known as Oktoberfest, takes place this Thursday in the Star Valley Ranch R.V. Resort Barn.

How are you today? (0:14) Good morning, Duke. How are you doing your favorite thing talking on the radio? Isn’t it your most favorite thing ever? I love it (0:21) Appreciate your time. So the Fall Festival the Rotary Club has hosted (0:27) Oktoberfest for a lot of years and this is the same thing just with a different name, right? Absolutely.

Yes, it is. Perfect (0:33) So tell us about it. What’s happening with Fall Festival? (0:35) So we are doing Bratwurst supper and we’re having a beer garden and wine garden (0:42) We are serving dinner.

We’re doing a silent auction (0:47) We’re just having live music in honor to support Rotary for those of you that don’t know what Rotary is we do (0:55) Stuff in our community as well as international (0:59) Perfect. And so this helps funds those efforts, right? (1:02) So it all takes place Thursday September 3rd as you mentioned at the star Valley Ranch RV Resort barn and always a great event (1:09) So let’s talk more about what the Rotary Club does on a local level because you guys are always out in the community doing some things (1:16) Yeah, so what we do with Rotary is (1:19) We do roadside cleanup and then we just recently started an eye care fund here (1:26) We’ve partnered with Boss Vision along with Lower Valley Vision down in Thane (1:32) and that is where we have provided funds and partnered with them to give people the (1:39) Opportunity to go in and get eye care who can’t afford it along with our breast care (1:46) Fund with Star Valley Health to go get mammograms (1:50) For those who can’t afford it men and women both can go in and get that taken care of (1:55) along with our (1:57) dictionaries for third graders (2:00) We have been doing that for many years (2:02) Those of you that still have those those are the yellow dictionaries (2:06) My kids have them and I love looking at that and looking back at that (2:10) Along with our student of the month (2:13) I am on that committee and I love seeing those applications come in that is our (2:20) current seniors (2:22) they submit that through the counseling and (2:26) We go through those you do not have to have a 4.0 to get that (2:31) and then we provide scholarships at the end of the year to those students of the month that we (2:38) We go through and make sure we select them perfect (2:43) So a lot going on with the Star Valley Rotary Club Hope Bell in studio today (2:47) Tell us about Fall Festival. So all the money raised from Fall Fest goes directly into those programs, right? (2:53) absolutely, and (2:54) We’re always looking to expand and help more where we can perfect (3:00) I hope you were telling me how much you love being part of the Rotary if someone’s out there and they’ve never really been involved (3:05) With it before why should someone consider joining you guys? Oh (3:10) Man (3:12) It’s just a way to give back to the community you do not have to go to every meeting (3:19) There’s times where I miss them (3:21) It is (3:22) such a fabulous way (3:25) to be (3:27) Involved.

I didn’t know what Rotary was when I first started and now I thought it was just (3:34) Businesses right, but it’s not it’s a bigger scale of being in the community helping and (3:43) Just being the backbone of a small club, right? (3:49) Like I say club, but it’s more than that. Like you meet people that you didn’t know (3:54) Were a part of something so I was able to go to Casper last year and just meet some (4:03) Extraordinary people (4:05) That we can utilize and be able to be (4:08) Intertwined with that can just put you in places that you didn’t know existed (4:15) by reaching out (4:17) Love it. Love it (4:18) So if someone wants to be involved with that (4:20) I think maybe fall fest will be a great time to go kind of learn more about what it’s all about (4:24) And again, it all happens Thursday September 3rd at the barn at the starvato ranch RV resort doors open at 5 (4:31) serving 530 to 630 (4:32) Brought worse supper, of course $15 in advance or at the door at the door.

There will be a beer garden there (4:39) There’s also a silent auction. Do you do you happen to know what some of the items are and the silent auction? (4:44) I do because I have been working super hard to get those items. I will tell you that (4:52) The new honey store, uh-huh not dropping names.

I (4:58) Will tell you that there is (5:03) Some companies in town (5:06) some title companies (5:08) there is some (5:11) Swag that is being there. So I don’t want to give some little tidbits (5:16) You need to come and see that love it. So you can get some ideas of what are in these baskets (5:21) I will tell you that some local businesses have dropped some gift certificates for dinner (5:28) I will tell you that there is a business down in Lower Valley that has dropped some cool (5:34) Cool swag as well.
