Work continues on the West Alley improvement project; a major concrete phase is complete, and stormwater infrastructure is scheduled for installation next week.

According to Afton Streets Director JR Nield, the project’s concrete roll curb has been poured and is currently curing. The work marks an important step in improving drainage and the overall condition of the alley.

Construction crews are expected to begin building and placing two storm drain dry wells next week. The dry wells are intended to help manage stormwater runoff and support improved drainage in the area.

Nield said the project timeline remains on track despite additional work being coordinated by private businesses along the alley. Several businesses have expressed interest in upgrading their own infrastructure to improve their properties and surrounding areas.

“Due to private businesses wanting to update some of their infrastructure to improve their areas, the final outcome is still on schedule to be completed by the first part of October,” Nield said.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to remain aware of construction activity in the West Alley area as crews continue work over the coming weeks.
