October 29, 2026, Jackson, Wyo. – Quick action by a Jackson Police officer helped ensure the safe evacuation of a family following a structure fire on Flat Creek Drive Thursday morning. Jackson Police Officer Liam Fowler observed smoke coming from the home, notified Teton County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch, and immediately evacuated all occupants.
Jackson Police Officers arrived at 9:10 a.m. and confirmed a fire burning on an exterior deck that had extended into the attic.
Jackson Hole Fire/EMS arrived at 9:15 a.m. and firefighters immediately began working to extinguish the fire from the outside before advancing into the home. A ladder truck was then used to ventilate the roof, helping slow the fire’s spread through the attic. No injuries were reported.
“Fire crews did an excellent job of stopping the fire from spreading any further and saving as much property as possible.”, said Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Deputy Chief Brian Coe.
A total of 25 Jackson Hole Fire/EMS personnel responded, including three command staff, one medical director, and personnel to cover additional calls throughout Teton County. Multiple fire resources were used, including three engines, a Aerial Ladder Truck, two ambulances and an unmanned aircraft (drone). Teton County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Dispatch personnel supported the incident from start to finish through information management and
coordination.
“I’m proud of the coordinated response from Teton County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers, Jackson Police officers, and firefighters,” said Incident Commander Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Battalion Chief Chris Stiehl. ” They safely and efficiently mitigated the fire, keeping firefighter and public safety as the top priority.”
