On Nov. 12 at approximately 1:17 a.m. Jefferson County Deputies responded to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in reference to an accidental gunshot wound.
Further investigation revealed that a 16-year-old male was driving a Honda Civic on Bassett Road in Jefferson County with two juvenile passengers. The juveniles were playing with a 45 caliber handgun in the vehicle.
The rear passenger accidentally discharged the weapon causing the bullet strike his left hand and then enter the front seat striking the male juvenile driver in the back.
The driver and passenger are expected to survive their injuries.
The other passenger, a 14-year-old, was not injured.
Both victims were transported by parents to the hospital. All parties involved are cooperating with detectives and the investigation continues.
