Updated – Locals work to save elk in freezing waters

A record year for water meant that the Palisades Reservoir was still very much full.

Temperatures on Friday, December 29, were hovering just above freezing and migrating elk fell through the ice into the water where Star Valley locals worked to rescue them.

Wyoming Game & Fish Biologist Gary Fralick spoke with SVI’s Dan Dan Dockstader about the incident and what happened.

A mix of Game & Fish officials, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies and locals used crowbars and an ice auger to create a path to the shore.

Possibly there is by any indicates you could get rid of me from that service? Thanks! 521495
