Here’s a look at how the teams under the SVI Sports umbrella competed over this past weekend.

Cross-Country
Star Valley – It doesn’t get much closer than the outing between the Star Valley Braves and the Jackson Broncs this past weekend as they clashed at the 3A West Regionals in Lander. After bowing to the Broncs by just three points last weekend, the Braves found a way to edge Jackson by just
0.7 on the sixth varsity runner to claim the regional title and set up the rubber match this next weekend in Sheridan at the Wyoming State Championships. Both Star Valley and Jackson finished with 53 team points and the scores went to the tie-breaker no the 6th varsity runner where Scott Orton edged Juan Florez by 0.7 seconds to carry the day.

On the women’s side, the Lady Broncs finished with four runners in the top six to win the team title with 33 points. Cody was second with 61. Lander was third and Star Valley was fourth.

Football
Star Valley – A second straight clash between two teams ranked in the top-three resulted in a classic battle between the Braves and the visiting Cody Broncs. CHS scored 14 first quarter points and added a second quarter safety but the Braves scored on a passing touchdown in the second half and forced several defensive stops in a crucial 20-16 victory. The win combined with a Jackson win over Evanston gave the 3A West top seed to Star Valley. The Braves are in Evanston this weekend to face the Red Devils.
Kemmerer – The Rangers ran into another top team from the 2A Class as they fell to defending state champion Mountain View 42-0 on the road. Despite a tough four-game slide, Kemmerer enters the final weekend of the regular season with a chance to punch their ticket for the post-season as they travel to face the Lovell Bulldogs. A win would earn the #4 seed in the West for the Rangers and their first trip to the playoffs since 2012.
Pinedale – After a long road trip the Wranglers picked up a hard-fought 14-6 victory over the Lovell Bulldogs to keep themselves in the conversation for the playoffs. Pinedale will need some help as they lose the tiebreaker against Kemmerer from a head-to-head match up earlier in the season. A Bulldog victory over the Rangers would put PHS into the post-season.
Cokeville – The Panthers routed the Evanston JV on Saturday, 42-0 and have can earn the 1A West top seed heading into the final week of the regular season. A win over Wind River this weekend gives them the edge.
Bear Lake High School – A tough season came to an end this past weekend as the Bears wrapped their campaign at (1-7) with a 53-6 loss to the West Side Pirates.

Volleyball
Pinedale – The Lady Wranglers had a tough task in front of them with the #3 Mountain View Buffaloes and the #1 Lyman Eagles coming to town. The two Bridger-Valley teams claimed sweeps over PHS.
Kemmerer – The Lady Rangers picked up a 3-0 sweep over Wind River on Friday and then fell via a 3-0 sweep to Shoshoni on Saturday afternoon.
Cokeville – The top-ranked Lady Panthers made a statement on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 sweep over #2 Saratoga (25-16, 25-17, 25-11). They wrapped up the weekend with another sweep over Encampment.

State Marching Band

Although official results are still not posted, the SVHS Marching Braves earned a Superior Rating at the 2018 State Marching Band competition in Casper on Saturday. Look for more information as it becomes available.
