• Wrestling: The Braves are 3A West Regional champs once again as they were more than 80 points in front of second place Powell over the weekend. The Braves finished with 288.0 team points. The Panthers had 206.5. Pinedale was third with 119.0. Star Valley had six regional champs, Haze Child (120), Tristian Hicks (126), Koa DeLong (170), Trent Clark (182), Brennan Harris (220) and Parker Merritt (Hwt) won their weight classes. In addition, Waylon Nelson, Brayden Andrews, Grayson Hicks, Ren King, Kyle Kunz and Connor O’Brien made the finals. Perhaps even more impressive was the fact that all 27 wrestlers who competed in the tournament punched their ticket to the Wyoming 3A State Tournament this week; two in every weight with the exception of heavyweight. The Braves will be going for the program’s fourth consecutive team title this weekend in Casper.

• Indoor Track: Members of the SVHS Indoor Track & Field team competed at the 35th annual Simplot Games and had a trio of top-three finishes.  Asefa Wetzel and Peter Visser were second and third respectively in the 1600 meter event and Wyatt Moore was third in the 200 meter dash, setting a new school record. Be sure to check out this weeks edition of SVI for full results.

• Basketball: Weather forced a postponement of Senior Night and the Snake River Shootout as hazardous travel and multiple avalanches kept Jackson Hole High School from traveling to Star Valley for Friday night’s games. The contests are scheduled to be played this Wednesday, February 20. On Saturday, the Lady Braves won their ninth consecutive game as they defeated the Evanston Red Devils, 53-39.  The Braves were not as fortunate as they fell to the Devils by a very similar score of 53-40. This week the teams will host Jackson on Wednesday and then travel to Green River on Friday.

• Little League Wrestling: Due to the rescheduling of the basketball games for this Wednesday, the Little League Wrestling program will be delayed for one week until Wednesday, February 27. This program will run from 6-7:15 p.m. at Star Valley High School and is for youth wrestlers ages Kindergarten to sixth grade.
