The boys indoor track team finished as the state runner-up and both SVHS basketball teams qualified for the Wyoming State Tournament which included a regional championship for the Lady Braves. Here’s where the local teams stand as the final weekend of the winter season begins this Wednesday with the Wyoming State Spirit Competition.
• The Star Valley Braves Indoor Track & Field team matched the program’s best finish as they finished as the All-Class Runner-up at the state competition in Gillette over the weekend. The Braves finished with 88.0 team points on the strength of multiple All-State performances from Asefa Wetzel, Peter Visser and Wyatt Moore. The UW-bound Wetzel won the triple crown of the 800 meter, the 1600 and 3200 meter events with teammate Visser right behind him placing second in all three events. The duo combined with Anival Ramos and Jesse Loveland to also win the 4 x 800 meter relay title. Moore won the 55-meter and 200 meter dash events, setting a new Wyoming Indoor State Record in the former with a time of 6.48 seconds. Moore also placed fifth in the Long Jump. Sheridan won the boys title with a total of 106.0 team points. Cheyenne East and Natrona County tied for third with 71.0 points. The Lady Braves placed tenth as a team with 22.0 team points. Lily Jenkins and McCora Wolfley placed second and third in the High Jump with a height of 5’ 2” both tying for the school indoor record.
