With Selection Sunday taking place this past weekend, SVI Media has teamed up with Fall River Propane for the 2019 Bracket Challenge.

“The brackets can be filled out online starting on Monday and have to be done by 10:00 Thursday morning,” said Duke Dance of SVI Media. “You can track your bracket throughout the tournament. During the Week-day Wake-Up we will talk about how the brackets are doing and who is leading the bracket challenge. Then, when the tournament is over, the winning bracket will receive $500.”

According to Dance, each year the Bracket Challenge brings together an interesting mix of participants.

“We have people who have never watched a basketball game who do really well and people who really follow the teams and keep track of standings and things like that. Our youngest participants are maybe in elementary school. And we have participants all the way up to grandparents. So it is a diverse group.”

And, when it comes to strategies for selecting winning teams, the sky is the limit — according to Dance.

“We have people that use a variety of methods when they are picking teams for their brackets,” he said. “Some use actual knowledge of the teams. Others use alphabetical order, mascots or a lot of different things. We just encourage people to fill out a bracket any way and with whatever strategy they want to and then watch what happens.”

According to Dance, the whole purpose of the Bracket Challenge is to bring the community together for some fun.

“SVI Media is always looking for ways to partner with area businesses and get involved in what is happening in the community,” Dance said. “This is another way we can do that.
