◆ Event tentatively planned for August 14-16 in Alpine.
Monday evening, June 1, the Alpine Mountain Days Planning Committee met to discuss options in regards to the 2020 event.
Traditionally held in mid-June, this year Alpine Mountain Days has officially been postponed until August.
According to Jeremy Larsen of the Alpine Town Council, the tentative plan for the 2020 event is to combine Mountains Days with the annual car show in Alpine.
“Tentatively it will take place the weekend of August 14-16, barring any state or county orders due to COVID,” Larsen said in an email to the Lincoln County Economic Development Board. “This is the same weekend as our car show. We hope the combination of these two events will have a safe and fun turnout.”
According to Alpine Mayor Kennis Lutz, the town and event planning committee feel strongly that Mountain Days is an important event.
“We didn’t want to cancel it completely,” he said. “It’s a good thing for the community. But we could not come to terms with how to be in compliance with the current health orders in the state.”
The best way to keep the longstanding event alive and well in Alpine, according to Lutz, was to look for alternative dates later in the summer.
