Star Vally FFA launches their annual Bear Tree Service Project

◆ Project provides stocking stuffers to families.

Star Valley FFA has launched their annual Bear Tree Service Project to help provide stocking stuffers to families that need a little extra support with Christmas this year.

Through December 15, community members can leave their donations in drop boxes in Afton at Broulim’s or Johnson Grain. Thayne donations are accepted at Farmer’s Feed.

“I think the bear tree is a good idea,” said Demri Nebeker. “It helps the children and parents in need and it also helps the FFA name get around.”

Suggestions for donations include matchbox cars, candy, small reading books, coloring books, crayons, small card games and other items small enough to fit in a Christmas stocking.

FFA members are also conducting a drive to collect toiletries for foster children in Star Valley. They are asking for toothbrushes, small tubes of toothpaste, deodorant, hairbrushes, combs, bars of soap, washcloths, feminine products and other personal hygiene items to aid the children.

“It’s a wonderful idea,” said Irrissa Guyett. “Christmas is all about love and kindness, so it is quite fitting.”
