4A State Basketball Wrap-Up

The Winter sports season officially ended on Saturday evening as Wyoming ’s 4A Class completed their basketball state championship in Casper.

For the 4A Girls, Cheyenne East defeated Star Valley (42-30), Green River (62-50) and then overcame Cody in the championship (52-37) to claim the team title.

Sheridan beat the Wolves in the third place game (58-46).

In the Consolation Bracket, Star Valley fended off Cheyenne Central (39-38) and Thunder Basin did the same with Natrona County (72-70) The Bolts defeated the Braves in the finals, 41-23.

In the boys bracket, Cheyenne Central defeated Rock Springs (67-46), Sheridan (67-45) and then Thunder Basin in the championship (55-40) to win the school’s 25th basketball title. The Bolts were in their first state tournament.

Sheridan defeated Star Valley 81-62 in the third place game. The Braves defeated Cheyenne East (66-45) in the quarterfinals before losing to Thunder Basin (48-25) in the semifinals.

In the Consolation Bracket, Cheyenne East got past Green River (71-65) and Riverton eliminated Rock Springs (45-33) to meet in the finals. The Wolverines handled the Thunderbirds for the trophy (81-67).
