The following is a release from the Jackson Police Department –
On September 14 2021, at 3:21 p.m., two officers with the Jackson Police Department were dispatched to the 500 block of E. Hall to investigate a call concerning a disturbance in a household involving family violence.
On their arrival the two officers were attempting to investigate when they were sprayed with bear spray by a male suspect in his twenties. The suspect then retreated into the residence and barricaded himself inside.
Jackson Police Officers, assisted by the Teton County Sheriff’s Office, Wyoming Highway Patrol and Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Medics on stand-by surrounded the house and attempted to negotiate a peaceful settlement with the barricaded subject.
During the stand-off a member of the detective division applied for and was granted a search warrant for the residence. At 7:07 p.m. officers entered the re residence to serve the search warrant and took the 24-year old male Jackson resident into custody.
An investigation into the original call for service is still ongoing and further details may be released in the future. Charges against the suspect are still pending.
There is no threat to the safety of the general public, the stand-off in east Jackson is resolved. Residents of east Jackson may see continued police presence in the area as the search warrant is served and the investigation is ongoing.
