The following is a release from the Bear Lake County Fire District –

By order of the Fire Chief, Bear Lake County Fire District will impose a stage 1 burn ban for the county. No open burning will be allowed except for a small cooking fire 3 foot or less in diameter and 2 foot or less in height. (IFC code 307.4 exception 2)

The requirements for the small fire SHALL be.

A minimum of 20 feet of green grass or bare earthen material around the pit. An improved pit liner such as metal fire ring or bricks to hold the  fire.

• Competent adult monitoring the fire.
• A shovel
• Water to extinguish the flames.
• Minimum 5-pound fire extinguisher

This ban will remain in effect until conditions improve. All Fires shall be completely out before leaving the fire!
