According to a recent study by WalletHub.com, Wyoming is one of deadliest states for teen drivers in the nation.

The report puts the Cowboy State as the worst in the nation in terms of teen fatalities per 100,000 teens with 20.02 deaths. The safest state by comparison was Rhode Island which had just 1.12.

Wyoming teens also drove the most as they had 16,857 vehicle miles traveled per capita.

According to the study, motor-vehicle accidents are the second leading cause of death among the population aged 16-19 with crashes involving 15-19 years olds resulting in approximately $4.8 billion per year in Medical expenses and work loss.

Western states did not fare well for the most part with Montana tying Wyoming for the worst spot. North and South Dakota, Nebraska and Idaho are all in the bottom six.

Colorado did much better at spot #25 and Utah was #15.

The best states for teen drivers according to the study was New York, followed by Washington and Illinois.
