According to information released by the Star Valley Search and Rescue Facebook page, the organization responded to a pair of calls for service up Cole Canyon Road.
The first incident was for a hunter who was experiencing an illness accompanied by vomiting and a difficult time breathing.
“We brought in medics from SV EMS with side by sides,” the information stated. “We reached the patient and transported the hunter out and to the hospital under the recommendation of EMS.”
The second call involved an ATV accident that resulted in a fatality.
“Our condolences go out to the family and friends,” the release stated. “Always try to enjoy the mountains with family and friends and not by yourself. Also please keep in mind that during this time of year you can have dry/frozen roads going in and impassible and dangerous roads coming out. Always be prepared to stay the night and let someone know where you will be.”
This incident is still under investigation by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. More information will be added here as it becomes available.
