(Video) – Braves host Broncs in Afton version of Snake River Shootout
In what may decide the top seed from the 4A Southwest, the Braves (10-8)(2-1) will be looking to get some payback against the Jackson Broncs (10-7)(3-0) in the Lincoln County version of the Snake River Shootout Friday evening.

The Braves split their weekend road trip to Kelly Walsh where they fell to the homesteading Trojans, 63-59 and then outlasted Rock Springs in a wild contest, 60-59.

The Braves got a huge performance from Jacob Hodges who poured in 28 points and pulled down ten rebounds. Taft McClure finished with 12 points and Croix Jenkins finished with ten.
The Trojans hit nine three- point baskets to pace their offense and hit several key shots down the stretch.

In one of the more memorable games you’ll ever seen in Wyoming high school action, the Braves and Tigers combined for 66 free throw attempts in the contest in a very physical clash that ultimately came down to the final moments. Star Valley had a one-point advance and had shot very well from the free-throw line for most of the contest. The Braves missed their final six free throws, leaving the door open for the Tigers who gave the ball to Je’Von Newman. Newman was called for carrying the basketball to split the double-team near midcourt but the gym was so loud that nobody heard the the whistle and Newman sprinted in to make the apparent game-winning basket with time expiring. However, the infraction was a turnover much to the chagrin of the Tiger faithful.
Taft McClure carried the team in the first half and finished with 13 points. Sophomore Taeson Johnson came off the bench and scored a game-high 19 points and hit some clutch free throws in the fourth quarter.
Up next the Braves will be looking for revenge as they host the Jackson Broncs on Friday night in the Afton version of the Snake River Shootout. Star Valley fell behind 25-5 to the Broncs in Jackson and could never recover in a January loss. The team will then pack up and head to Evanston for a Saturday afternoon contest against the Red Devils.
