• Spooktacular’s 10th anniversary!

Star Valley’s crafting community is gathering Saturday, October 7 in the Thayne Community Center for the annual Spooktacular Harvest Craft Fair.  Doors open at 9 a.m. and festivities will continue until 3 p.m.

Every year, the fair organizer, Celeste Draney, looks forward to the fun, food, and friends.  “I have enjoyed fairs for years and years.  When I first moved to Star Valley, I went to a craft fair, and it was just so much fun!  I loved the atmosphere. Everyone was so cheerful, and it was great. It was like a big party. I have just had so much fun doing craft fairs and meeting people and doing things like that.”

Over 40 vendors have committed to participate this year.  Scheduled vendors will offer jams and jellies, permanent jewelry, art, quilts, woodworking, honey products, watercolor cards, soy candles, glitter tumblers and goodies (some will be gluten-free). Resale vendors such as Scentsy, Paparazzi, and Red Aspen have booths. Guests can expect two authors who will be sharing their books.  One booth will offer miniature pumpkins grown this summer by youth, who are very excited to share their produce with the community.  Shandie Major has also committed to provide food and some treats for purchase.

One vendor is scheduled to provide massage to guests.  “I was thinking I might need that at the end of the craft fair,” teased Draney.  “I can just schedule it for the last 5 minutes.  We’ve got some wonderful new vendors who are coming and vendors who have been with us for almost 10 years.”

This fair kicks off the harvest and Halloween seasons in the craft world.  “It’s fall, and we’re starting to gear up for the holidays and it’s a wonderful season,” said Draney who has organized this fair since 2013.  “It’s just been so fun meeting all of the people in Star Valley and the surrounding areas. It’s been a blast. I decided to go with the name Spooktacular because it involves Halloween. It’s kind of fun to have some Halloween things and it also involves fall in our Harvest.”

“I love the atmosphere at the craft fairs,” concluded Draney. “It’s just fun for me and my sisters to go and wander and laugh and talk and it’s a way to start our Christmas shopping early when we find that perfect gift for someone.  It just makes it even better and so much fun. I enjoy seeing people who come year after year and it’s always a fun time.”
