A multi-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 26 north of Alpine temporarily blocked the road around Palisades Reservoir. Lincoln County Dispatch reports the accident occurred around 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19 about three miles across the Idaho border.
According to dispatch, a head-on collision lead to at least three different vehicles being involved, temporary blocking the road in both directions.
At this time it remains unclear how many people were involved and the extent of any injuries. At roughly 6:30 p.m. drivers reported that traffic began flowing through on one lane.
Additional details will be provided as they become available.
The road is experiencing higher than normal traffic flow due to a closure of Teton Pass west of Jackson caused by a massive land slide.
