Medicare Open Enrollment: October 15 to December 7

• Kendall Erickson from WyoHealth Insurance shares key changes for 2025

As the annual Medicare Open Enrollment period approaches, Kendall Erickson from WyoHealth Insurance urges seniors to take stock of their healthcare options. From October 15 to December 7, beneficiaries have the opportunity to review their Medicare plans and consider better alternatives for the upcoming year.

“This is the ideal time to evaluate your Medicare options,” Erickson emphasizes. “With changes to Part D prescription drug plans, including the elimination of the dreaded ‘donut hole,’ it’s crucial for those with high medication costs to explore their choices.” Under the new structure, annual spending on prescriptions is capped at $2,000, providing significant relief for many seniors.

To facilitate this process, Erickson recommends utilizing the Medicare Plan Finder at medicare.gov. “By entering your pharmacy details and prescription list, you can easily see which plan might save you the most in 2025,” he explains.

In addition to prescription changes, Erickson notes that the Part B premium is set to increase slightly to around $185, with minor adjustments to the deductible. However, he reassures beneficiaries that “the overall Medicare health benefits and supplement plans remain largely unchanged.”

The enrollment period also includes Medicare Advantage plans, which will be available for review from November 1 to January 15. “This is another opportunity to find quality health plans tailored to individual and family needs,” Erickson advises, highlighting resources like healthcare.gov.

With the introduction of new private options, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming and Mountain Health Co-Op, competition in the market is on the rise. “More choices mean better options for consumers,” Erickson notes.

For personalized assistance, seniors can contact Erickson at 307-885-1499 or via text. “Don’t wait until the last minute—start early to ensure you have the best coverage for the year ahead,” he encourages.
