An early morning accident involving a Coca-Cola tractor trailer is likely to affect the Snake River Canyon for much of the day on Wednesday.
According to reports from the Alpine EMS, crews responded to the scene at milepost 123 at 4:47 a.m. where the vehicle went through the guard rail and the rig was hanging from the trailer down the embankment.
According to Alpine Fire Chief, Mike Vogt, the driver did sustain injuries and was treated at the scene.
Traffic was blocked off and on for several hours while the towing service solved the issue and were able to bring the vehicle and trailer back onto the roadway. Traffic alternated one lane as crews worked the scene.
The canyon was opened by 11:30 a.m.
