U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) recently traveled overseas to be with Wyoming National Guard troops serving in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait and Kosovo.

There are approximately 370 Wyoming National Guard soldiers deployed in the Middle East and Europe. This makes it one of the largest deployments of Wyoming National Guard soldiers since 2009.

Barrasso met with members of the Wyoming National Guard’s 115th Field Artillery Brigade Forward in the United Arab Emirates.

In Kuwait, he met with members of the Wyoming National Guard’s 2nd Battalion, 300th Field Artillery Forward.

In Kosovo, he saw members of the Wyoming National Guard’s C Company, 1st Battalion, 297th Infantry Regiment.

“This is one of the largest overseas deployments of Wyoming service members in a decade,” said Barrasso. “Hundreds of soldiers from communities all across Wyoming are a long way from home right now. It was a

privilege to visit with them and learn more about the work they do to defend our freedom and our allies.”

“We also talked about their families and how proud we are of the University of Wyoming Cowboy football team,” Barrasso said. “I made sure they knew how much folks back home miss them, and how thankful we are for their service to our country.”

In the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, Barrasso shared a meal with the service members, toured each of the bases, and was briefed by military officials on operations in the Middle East region.

In Kosovo, Barrasso shared lunch with the service members, toured the base, and was briefed on the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) mission to promote stability and security in the region.
