Afton, Wyo., August 10, 2021-The Greys River Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest will begin major grading and resurfacing of the Greys River Road on Monday, August 16, 2021. The result will be a new gravel road surface from Alpine to upstream of the confluence of Greys River and Little Greys River. Future phases will extend the new gravel surfacing upstream to Forest Park. The material for this project was funded through a grant from the Great American Outdoors Act, with $400K worth of gravel for this initial phase.
Preparation for this work started earlier this month, when the Bridger-Teton National Forest road crew, consisting of three personnel, responsible for all forest roads from Togwotee Pass south to Pinedale and Kemmerer, mobilized onto the Greys River Ranger District. Hours of work will be Monday through Thursday, from 7:00am until 6:00pm. Crews are expecting to complete this portion by early September, ahead of the rifle deer season. Traffic delays of up to 20 minutes are expected, and heavy truck traffic will be constant during working hours. Please reduce speed through the construction zone and consider rescheduling all non-critical travel on this route to evenings or weekends.
