Teton County Search and Rescue responded to a backcountry skiing incident on Jan. 2. The skier, a woman, was on Windy Ridge on the west side of Teton Pass when she injured her knee. 

TCSAR was able to fly the helicopter directly to her, taking into consideration the avalanche risk in the area. The woman was transported to medical care by her friends upon arriving at the TCSAR hangar. The mission was completed in under two hours.

TCSAR reminds outdoorsmen that winter conditions can make rescue efforts difficult. Even darkness can hinder the team’s ability to perform rescues safely.
