The Kemmerer Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest is partnering with other outdoor agencies and groups to offer an outdoor youth discovery day for the whole family. On Saturday, September 10th from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., at the Diamondville Park and Playground in Diamonville, Wyoming, the Bridger-Teton National Forest, along with many others, will offer booths and activities for children that will help spark an interest in enjoying the great outdoors.
“We will have an incredible array of activities available for all ages,” said Kemmerer District Ranger Adam Calkins. “Stations dedicated to archeology and fossil fish, bird watching and ornithology, as well as fisheries education,” he said. “We’ll also have things for older youth that help foster a love of all things outdoors including wildlife viewing tips and off-highway vehicle (OHV) education, along with plant identification,” he continued.
“This is the first year for this outdoor youth discovery day, and it wouldn’t be possible without all our partners,” Calkins said. “Diamondville providing the venue was the first part, and then everyone lined up to join in for our community,” he added. In addition to the activity stations mentioned, the event will also offer fire and fuels activities, fire extinguisher practice, animal tracks and scat identification, and a station with animal pelts. The event is free and is outdoors, so dress accordingly.
