Mother’s Day Dinner and Show this Saturday at Gather and the Ford

• Guests can choose tickets to dinner and the show, or just buy tickets to the show.

Gather on 89 and the Ford Theatre have partnered to offer an evening celebrating mothers in Saturday, May 11 with a buffet style Hawaiian dinner served at Gather. Guests can then walk across the street to the Ford for an evening of improv comedy presented by The Antics.

The menu, provided by Stuft Catering, features a very traditional Hawaiian meal with Kalua pork, coconut rice, pasta salad, and grilled pineapple. Frozen Swirl yogurt is offered for dessert. Doors for dinner open at 6 p.m. on Saturday, and guests are welcome to enjoy their meal any time between then at 7:30, when The Antics will begin their show at the Ford.

The Antics present a show that, according to saltriverarts.com, is described as “’Studio C’ meets ‘Whose Line is it Anyway.’ This talented troupe takes cues from the audience and puts together a comedic scene on the spot.” From theanticsimprov.com, guests learn that the shows are “clean enough for the whole family and outrageous enough for everyone.” The Antics promise a show appropriate for all ages, with portions of the evening devoted to comedic sketches, music, stand up, and games.

“Seating is limited and dress is casual,” said Bethany Packard, an owner of Gather, in a phone interview with SVI Media.

“We hope that people will come and take their moms, and their wives, and their sisters, and their girlfriends out for a fun night,” Packard added. “There may be a lot of women out there that don’t have a husband or a boyfriend or family and we want them to come. Bring your friends or family and come and celebrate being a woman in any phase of your life.”

Tickets are available at the Giftery or at SaltRiverArts.com, where guests can choose to purchase tickets for the dinner and show, or just for the show.
