• Prizes and friendship are part of the game

Those ladies longing for someone to join them on the links of Valli Vu Golf Course in Afton will get their wish as the Afton Ladies Club will begin play on May 28, at 10 a.m. on the south side of the town. 

“We play as a scramble and as a team and just have fun,” stated Judy Brown, one of the organizers of the group which is now in its fifth year. “We have prizes and such for play.”

After seeing no real option for some to play together, Brown invited area players together which oftentimes has more than 20 on a given day.

The group, which Brown says is more of a club than a league, is a fun way of ladies to play and make new friends. 

“It doesn’t matter what level golfer you are,” she said. “Everybody gets to play and we have a lot of fun. We have ladies that come from Montpelier, and Cokeville and Star Valley Ranch and we would just invite anyone who wants to come and play and make new friends. It’s been really fun and we’ve enjoyed a lot of great success. We’ve just had a great time. No complaints.”
