• The Diamondfly Ranch program begins in June

Cancer is a shared reality for far too many people, especially breast cancer. It could be personally, a family member, friend or a neighbor. Diamondfly Ranch is no exception to this as they have brought support to cancer patients and those in recovery for a decade with various programs run by Priscilla Marden, who is a equine specialist and breast cancer survivor.

Marden shares the purpose of the programs to be “The restoration of joy and hope to participants in different stages of their cancer journey.” The programs are not limited to those who are experiencing breast cancer, but all cancers.

Coming up in June, the Diamondfly Ranch will have Saturday Superheroes™. Marden explains, “Saturday Superheroes™ supports people by providing an experience that instills a sense of confidence and encouragement about healing. Interactions with horses, camaraderie with other cancer survivors, organic lunches and empowering art projects comprise the curriculum for the 10 summer sessions. Each participant has a personal volunteer so they can participate at their own comfort level, and sessions are facilitated by a credentialed equine specialist and support staff.”

The sessions are free as a result of grants from the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative (WBCI) and Soroptimist International of Jackson Hole. There is a huge benefit for the participants, as well as the horses.

As Marden spoke with those who were a part of past year’s programs, they shared the motivation that they had to get back to what they loved and to have support given by those who truly understand what they are going through.
