Marnie Lemon will be serving Thailand with International Medical Relief

• Providing basic healthcare needs to remote locations in November

Marnie Lemon is gearing up to bring medical relief to remote areas to Chang Mai, Thailand this November with the International Medical Relief organization (IMR).

Marnie emphasized, in a recent interview with SVI Media, that the need for basic healthcare needs is still great in areas such as Chang Mai. Lemon will be serving the Indigenous Akha people along with local orphans, migrant workers, and refugees from Myanmar.

It can take days for the people to reach mobile clinics, causing many preventable health concerns, including a high infant mortality rate. Lemon shared the focus of women’s health as well as the health of children as she serves the people in Thailand.

Necessities of toothbrushes, emery boards, and pediatric medicines will be some of the items that will be brought by Lemon and other trip volunteers as they serve the area.

Lemon explained the need to have health education for the people to help them stay away from any preventable health concerns they may face. The IMR trip description shares that some things that are commonly faced for the people in the Chang Mai area include bacterial diarrhea, hepatitis, dengue fever, malaria, Japanese encephalitis, rabies, and leptospirosis–to name a few. IMR has been serving Thailand’s remote areas since 2015. “If we save one life through our teachings, it’s worth the trip,” shared Lemon.

Donations for the trip can be made at Star Valley Health in Afton, Advantage Plus Federal Credit Union in Afton, or through Venmo to @Marnie-Lemon. Lemon has also shared her cellphone number for those who wish to ask her any questions of the trip before they donate; 307-887-0419.
