• Alpine Fire District conducts a formal push in ceremony for new truck — Ladder 1.
Using the traditional fire department celebration of accepting a new fire truck, Alpine’s Fire Fighting team rolled the new massive ladder truck back into it’s assigned stall at the Alpine Fire Department, Saturday, June 29.
Once in place, the Lincoln County Dispatch Center in Afton formally acknowledged the radio message from Alpine, “Ladder 1 is now in service.”
“This has been three yeas of work, Alpine Fire Chief Mike Vogt explained. “Three years of paper work, specs, visiting the factory, getting it shopped and getting it here.
The new truck puts a 1,000 gallon pumper, complete with a ladder, in service for Alpine. Vogt advised, “This shows we’re are staying up with the growth of the community.”
He noted larger hotel facilities, retail businesses and an expanding airport with large storage hangers and living facilities all constructed in Alpine in recent years.
“This shows we have pride in the department and pride in the community,” Vogt said. “We are trained as a modern fire fighting department.”
Vogt said Saturday’s roll back acknowledged the three years of preparation for the new truck.
“It was a good feeling to put it on the radio to dispatch, “Ladder 1 is now in service.”
Vogt expressed appreciation to all who had helped bring the project together for Alpine.
