Star Valley FFA members had the opportunity to attend the Wyoming FFA Leadership Camp this last week, traveling to the Fremont County Youth Camp in the Wind River Mountain Range.

Star Valley took 16 students along, setting a new chapter record for highest number of campers, and the camp record for biggest chapter in attendance. Members learned more about the FFA Program, Leadership Skills, Public Speaking Workshops, and to work alongside this years 2024-2025 Wyoming FFA State Officer Team. Members were able to also learn about contests they can compete in, such as Employment Skills, Ag Issues, Agronomy, Farm and Business Management, and more.

Campers were given the opportunity to become Camp Officers and help to plan the banquet, participate in flag ceremonies, and lead the members in Activities and games. Three Star Valley FFA members were lucky enough to be elected as camp officers, giving them the title and opportunity to help run the camp for the week.

Bridger Wolfley, a senior, was elected as the Camp President. “FFA Camp was where my FFA journey all began. I’ve made more friends at this camp and gained more knowledge then I think I have anywhere else. It truly changed my perspective on leading, and the future of agriculture as a whole. Being Camp president was a goal I’d set two years ago, and to finally reach it and to lead the members of that association for a week was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Camp office helped me learn so many more skills I never thought I’d have” said Wolfley.

Kyson Finch, a junior, was elected as the Camp Reporter. Finch said, “FFA Camp is exciting and one of the best experiences I’ve had as and FFA member and being the camp reporter made it that much better because of all the great officers and extra activities. It gave me the chance to understand the roles of an officer and I am excited for next year.”

Samantha Moffat, a sophomore, was the last of Star Valleys campers elected to the officer team, making her the Camp

Sentinel for the week. Moffat said, “Camp has been one of the best experience of my life. I got to meet so many new people, and learned a lot about me that I didn’t know. Camp has taught me so many life lessons, a few of my favorites being you can’t control everything, live your life to the fullest, and the best place to grow is when you get out of your comfort zone. But one of my favorite experiences was running for camp office. For camp office they asked me two questions and the second was to “show my imaginary sheep” so I started showing and I have never showed a sheep before. But I was showing my beautiful sheep when the judge called it ugly! But I looked at the judge and said ‘it’s my brother’. I got everyone to laugh. Camp was so much fun and it is one of the best experiences ever!”

Star Valley FFA was able to learn and grow as leaders through the week and will be attending next to at with even more members!

Members who attended the camp included Samantha Bramwell, Sampsn Bevan, Addy Chapel, Aislin Chapel, Kyson Finch, Ethan Kirkland, Samantha Moffat, Falyn Nenna, Rickie Palmer, Lauren Parsons, Lizzy Petersen, Paxton Probst, Carley Taylor, Isabelle Truchot, and Bridger Wolfley.
