Using their social media platforms, the officials at WyoLotto announced that a winning ticket for the Cowboy Draw had been confirmed and was purchased at AJ’s Discount Liquor in Afton on July 8.

Now WyoLotto has announced the winners of that prize with a similar social media post on July 29. The trio of Glenn Magee, Thomas Holdren and Frank Magee split the jackpot of $1,417,688.

The statement read:

“Dear world, let’s kickoff this week by meeting our newest Cowboy Draw million dollar jackpot winners from Afton! Frank, his brother Glenn and their friend of over 20 years, Tom have been playing the lottery together for quite sometime, but usually wait until the jackpot really starts to grow. Frank took their tickets to be checked and when he heard the infamous “Winner Winner” music come from the terminal he figured it was for a $1,000 win, until the retailer confirmed that they were actually the holders of the jackpot winning ticket! The three split the winnings equally where Frank and his wife, who own Rocky Mountain Seafood in Afton, plans to pay off their house, Glenn plans to pay off some bills and Tom says he is saying goodbye to debt! Congrats to our winners!”

The jackpot total of $1,417,663 is the largest recorded in the Star Valley area although the Cowboy Draw has been fairly kind to those buying their tickets here. In 2020 a ticket for $800,000 was sold in Thayne and in 2021 a jackpot totaling $794,109 was sold in Alpine.

Former Wyoming Governor Matt Mead authorized the creation of a state lottery on March 13, 2013 as Wyoming entered into agreements with other U.S. lotteries for multi-state games.

Wyoming added Cowboy Draw in 2015 and Lucky for Life in 2016. The game 2by2 was started in 2021.

Wyoming is among a group including Delaware, Mississippi, South Carolina, Montana and New Jersey that allows for winners to remain anonymous.
