First annual Alpine Art Festival This Friday and Saturday

Connoisseurs of art and crafts are invited to the First Annual Alpine Art Festival happening this Friday and Saturday on the lawns of The Bank of Jackson Hole at 65 Greys River Road in Alpine.  Guests can also enjoy the Alpine Car Show, and the Star Valley Street Market, which will be taking place in conjunction with the art fair.

The Star Valley Arts Council, in collaboration with the Town of Alpine are presenting the festival, which offers works for sale by over 40 vendors as well as live music each afternoon.  Booths will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

“The Alpine Art Festival will feature local and semi-local artists selling fine art and crafts,” said Lxi Weber, Executive Director of the Star Valley Arts Council, in an interview with SVI Media last week.  “We have over 20 registered vendors this year, bringing handmade arts such as jewelry, beadwork, paintings, fine art, mosaics, glasswork, woodwork, photography, ceramics, and fiber arts.”

According to starvalleyarts.org, the invited artists have undergone a challenging application process in order to present their work at the festival.  “All artworks must be original, designed and produced by the exhibiting artist.”

Live reggae music will be offered by “Baldy Dread” on Friday afternoon, and the “We Ourselves Band,” is scheduled to present their Celtic flavor tunes on Saturday afternoon.

“The Alpine Art Festival has the potential to turn our valley into a summer art destination to rival our neighboring communities,” said Weber. “Please join us for the art and the connection.”

In case of inclement weather, the Art Festival will be set up in the Donn Wooden Civic Center.
