Local woman sustains serious injuries in early morning crash

A local Star Valley family is dealing with the aftermath of a serious accident this week. According to information from the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP), Kim Choma, of Etna, was driving a 2006 Toyota Highlander northbound through the narrows area near mile post 91 on US 89 sometime in the late hours of Monday evening and Tuesday morning when her vehicle veered off the road.

Initial information stated that Choma was returning home from Montpelier, Idaho.

The initial investigation believes she fell asleep and caused the vehicle to create a crash scene that was some “700 feet long” according to WHP.

Choma then endured lying near the side of the road for anywhere from “five to six hours” before passing traffic noticed and called in responders and law enforcement.

Choma is reportedly in stable condition but has undergone significant reconstructive surgery as a result of the accident.

The accident is still under investigation by the WHP.
